Just Listening

When you give your whole attention to something, you listen to the totality of the thing. When you attend, there are no borders of attention. When you so intensely listen, you are listening to the birds, the wind, the breeze among the leaves, the slightest whisper. In the same way, the very act of listening brings about total attention in which you see the totality and the whole significance and structure of what is being said. Not only what the speaker is saying but also when you are listening to your wife or husband, to your children, to the politician or priest, to everything about you. Then there is no choice, only clarity. There is no confusion but right perception.

Absorbing world sounds awakens a buddha right here! This buddha, the source of compassion. This buddha receives only compassion. Buddha, Dharma, Sangha― just compassion. Thus, the pure heart always rejoices. In the light, recall this. In the dark, recall this. Moment after moment the true heart arises. Time after time there is nothing but this.

There is no greater and more living resonator of sound than the human body. Sound has an effect on each atom of the body, and each atom resounds.

Music is the medium that transcends consciousness and is therefore uniquely able to reach patients within borderline states between life and death.

With the right music you either forget everything or remember everything.
